The LES along with the East Village is the last of the Mohicans when it comes to gentrification; and that is exactly how the natives want it to stay. Counterculture may have been rudely side stepped by pop culture but with a determined mind, and a few bucks in your pocket you can taste some good ale, eat dinner down a back alley, and dance til the sun comes up. The party isn't over yet ......
