Head for the creamy yellow truck and once you find it and know where it is, how many times can you walk on by without sampling? Sitting in 88 Orchard with a cream cheese bagel and a latte, gazing out of the window onto the streets of the LES, the New York Friday Lunch club spied a Jaguar cruising. Not the 4 legged variety, but the 4 wheeled variety. One just as rare and unexpected on these streets 15 years ago as the other. Boy, the times they are a changing.

This is LES heartland. Not a yellow taxi in sight, if that's an indication of being slightly off the Manhattan beaten track.
Brown Café is one of those places you stumble upon and vaguely remember having visited years previously and thankfully nothing has changed. It is the perfect place to grab a quiet coffee, conduct a casual business meeting or just hang out LES style.

They only have a few seats for patriots but that doesn’t matter because we chose our icecream, paid up, and started eating right there at the counter without even giving a second thought to a seat, or our exit, or even making room at the counter for the next customer. They are that good.
