South of Canal Street was once awash with lofts and old warehouses, many of which were commandeered by artists until families headed south from the Upper East Side in the '80s, converting empty shells into stylish family sized apartments and populating the sidewalks with Bugaboos. Wholefoods, Barnes & Noble, a playground on every corner and more nursery schools than you can shake your Starbucks stick at; what more could we ask for? An injection of bohemian soho and some free lovin', free wheelin' action .... Hmm, not sure we can oblige but what we can do is point you in the direction of some tasty coffee beans, brunch with bells on with shopping and a manipedi on the side.
